LOCAL RULES

  1. MOVEABLE OBSTRUCTIONS [RULE 15.2]

The following are defined as moveable obstructions :

All ropes, stakes, chain link, and marker posts [except for posts marking out of bounds] should be treated as moveable obstructions.

  1. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS [RULE 16.1]

The following are defined as immoveable obstructions:

a] All manhole covers, water hydrants, drinking fountains, protective fences, distance markers, surfaced paths and roads, man-made edging of a path, warning bells, steps, seats, fallen trees and the area covered by fallen trees and the stacking for removal, practice nets and driving bays. The ball shall be dropped, without penalty, within the relief area.

b] All bridges [except where a player’s ball lies within the penalty area]. The ball shall be dropped, without penalty, within the relief area, ensuring the stance and swing are clear of the bridge. If a ball is resting on a bridge, within the markings, red or yellow, it is deemed to be in the penalty area and can be played, without penalty, as in any penalty area. Alternatively, the ball may be dropped as under Local Rule 2a or 2b, depending whether the penalty area is red or yellow, under a penalty of one stroke.

        3. PENALTY AREAS [RULE 17]

a] Parts of the burn or ditches marked with yellow stakes or lines are yellow penalty areas.

b] Parts of the burn or ditches marked with red stakes or lines and all unmarked ditches are red penalty areas

       4. OUT OF BOUNDS [RULE 2.1]

Beyond any wall, fence or line of white stakes defining the boundary of the course. On or beyond any white line defining the boundary of the course. A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies on or over such a line.

Note: Where out of bounds is defined by white stakes or fence posts [excluding angled supports], the out of bounds line is determined by the nearest inside points at ground level of such stakes or posts. A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies over such a line.

      5. RELIEF FROM ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS [RULE 16.1]

a] Any area encircled by a white line

b] Any area of damaged ground [eg caused by vehicle movement] that is considered by the Committee to be abnormal.

c] Stone-filled drainage ditches

d] The practice putting green

e] Fenced area at the right hand side of the 16th hole. The area defined by the posts is designated as a No Play Zone that is to be treated as an Abnormal Course Condition. Free relief must be taken from interference by the No Play Zone under Rule 16.1

       6. DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES [RULE 4.3]

The use of distance-measuring devices for the purpose of assessing distance only is permitted, strictly in accordance with the above Rule.

       7. TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES
